FAQ
Questions, answered.
The things designers, owners, and bookkeepers usually want to know before they sign up.
Getting started
- I'm on DesignFiles. Can I move my stuff over?
- Yes. LD has a DesignFiles migration importer - both a self-serve path and a concierge option where we help bring your data across. (Coming from a different tool? Email info@layereddesigns.org - we'll help you figure out the best path over.)
- Does it actually sync to QuickBooks?
- Yes - QuickBooks Online sync is live. Invoices and payments flow to your books so you're not entering them twice.
- Do you do the sourcing/clipping thing, or do I re-enter products?
- You enter a product once. There's a Chrome extension (the Product Clipper) that clips products from vendor sites straight into your library, and that one record then drives your moodboards, purchase orders, spec sheets, and invoices. That's the core of how LD works.
Pricing
- How is pricing structured?
- Flat monthly fee per plan, with a hard cap on seats - Solo (1), Studio (5), Practice (10), Firm (unlimited). Every plan is fully featured; the only difference is team size. No per-seat billing and no overage charges. Bring on help without your bill jumping.
- What's the difference between the tiers - do I lose features on the smaller plan?
- No. Every tier has every feature. You're only choosing how many people get a seat. Move up a tier when your team grows.
Client portal & team
- Can my clients see and approve work without a login mess?
- Yes. Each firm gets a client portal on its own subdomain. Clients sign in, view their project and moodboards, answer questionnaires, and approve or comment - no email back-and-forth, no version confusion.
- Can my whole team use it - my PM, my bookkeeper?
- Yes. LD has five roles - Owner, Admin, Designer, Project Manager, Bookkeeper - so people only touch what they should. Invite teammates up to your plan's seat cap.
Availability
- Is it available now?
- We're rolling out to firms in waves. Join the waitlist and we'll reach out when your spot opens - you'll be early, with room to give feedback that shapes the product.
